The Need
Valley Children's Stadium opened in 1981 and has undergone several upgrades and expansions since its initial construction. Although each of these provided needed improvements, work still needs to be done to improve stadium access, spectator amenities, premium seating options and accessibility.

The Project
Taking a holistic view to modernize the facility, the renovation plan addresses each section of the stadium and creates a cohesive design that revitalizes and unifies the entire complex.
The renovation vision accomplishes four over-arching goals:
-
Support Fresno State's existing fan base and attract new interest from the area's energetic and diverse population.
-
Enhance the approach to the stadium with improved main and secondary entries.
-
Improve stadium accessibility as well as circulation within the concourses and seating areas.
-
Upgrade the fan experience by increasing premium seating options and modernizing fan amenities (food & beverage service & restrooms).

The Site
Built with the playing field 37 feet below ground level, the bowl has a low profile appearance which creates an under-whelming approach and view from outside the stadium.
The proposed undulating series of fins dynamically wrap around the stadium to create an iconic architectural feature.
