The green "V" is a symbol that Fresno State uses to represent the pride of the San Joaquin Valley in being the richest agricultural region in the world. The "V" is also the logo of the Green V Society whose members offer annual gifts that provide a margin of excellence towards Fresno State's mission of fielding a nationally competitive athletic program.
